The Bond Girl
The Bond Girl was conceived as a look for the Met Gala, inspired by the 2026 themes, “Costume as Art” and “Fashion is Art.” These ideas led me to reflect on the forms of art that have most influenced me, ultimately drawing me to film—particularly the enduring impact of the James Bond franchise. I have always been captivated by the Bond Girl: a figure who embodies elegance and sophistication, while simultaneously exuding mystery, depth, and a darker allure.
The gown is constructed in three distinct layers: a lining, a structured base, and an outer shell. The base is fully boned and covered in felt to achieve a seamless, sculpted foundation, over which black velvet is draped. Integrated hip padding exaggerates the silhouette, creating a striking contrast at the waist and adding dramatic volume. The gathered fabric at both the front and back is meticulously hand-stitched, allowing it to fall organically across the body and create a fluid, almost cinematic sense of movement.
